Troy Jackson - The Funk Punk
Troy Jackson is a Queer Pop Funk Punk who is Human+
Jackson got his start in the underground spoken word scene in Vancouver. Always a lover of great lyrics and music he combined his love of words and inspiration to create his own variety cabarets at the Alibi Room. He has shared the stage with everyone from Lorraine Segato to Lady Bunny. He is fierce, Human+ and truly one of a kind.
After moving to Toronto at the invitation of fellow recording artist Mikela Jay, he began performing at The Drake Hotel, The Gladstone Hotel, The now defunct Ciao Edie, and The Cameron House.
Jackson is promoting his first offering "Cd of Troy" a funk, pop, punk social commentary album. For this he enlised the producing talents of Nicholas Murray (of LAL), Matthew Maaskant ( of Draftattoo.com )and Rosina Kazi (of LAL) to make it happen. The Title track and video "The Batty Boys Revenge" shot by director Alison Duke is a queer anthem calling out in support of brothers and sisters around the world in solidarity.
Currently Troy is is working on some collaborative remixes and a Pop Dance Album due out in 2011...stay tuned!
